[ox-en] CNET: Lindows, anyone?

(It is interesting to see how recent releases of OpenOffice,
Mozilla and Lindows are slowly opening up the field for
mainstream MS users. Ciao, Geert)

What is Lindows?
June 20, 2002

Dear Readers,

For most computer users today, including me, the Linux
operating system is as foreign as snow in the Kalahari
Desert. All I know about Linux is that it's a complicated OS
that takes a heap of codes and specialized knowledge. But one
company took Linux and Microsoft Windows, threw them in a
blender, and came up with Lindows. This fairly new OS hit the
computer market recently, and the company says that using
Lindows is "effortless, so people spend less time working on
computers and more time having computers work for them."
Well, if that doesn't spark your interest, the price might.
As a low-cost alternative to Microsoft Windows, a Lindows
machine is very affordable; they even sell computers with
this OS at Wal-Mart! So, is Lindows worth trying? Read this
discussion and see what others have to say about it. Maybe
it's time for a change.
