Dear Sir or Madam,
We are contacting you because you attended one or several former Berlin
Conferences. We would be greatly honored if you or a colleague of you could
participate in this year's conference too.
Te conference is kindly hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Thus, for
the first time it takes place outside Europe. In Beijing we expect strong
attendance from Asian countries whose share in the global research
publication output is growing strongly. One focus - amongst others - of this
year's conference are institutional and national Open Access strategies.
As last year in Paris we were again able to gain leading experts on open
access issues, among them:
* Daniel Kulp, Editorial Director, American Physical Society, USA
* David J. Lipman, Director, National Center for Biotechnology
Information at the National Institute of Health, USA
* Hyekyong Hwang, Senior Researcher, Knowledge Resources Center, Korea
Institute of Science and Technology Information, Korea
* Leanne Harvey, Executive General Manager, Australian Research Council,
Australia
* Mark Patterson, Director of Publishing, PLoS, USA
* Naresh Kumar, Head, R&D Planning Division, Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research, India
* Nick Fowler, Director of Strategy, Elsevier
* Peter Hendriks, President STM Publishing & Marketing, Springer
* Robert Kiley, Head of Digital Services, Wellcome Library, Wellcome
Trust, UK
For more detailed information on the program as well as registration
information please visit the conference website at http://www.berlin8.org

The Max Planck Society and the local organizers are looking forward to
meeting you in Beijing.
Kind regards,
Christoph Bruch
