on http://www.eetimes.com/sys/news/OEG20020510S0085 is an interesting article about commercial software-companies who are using open-source-software (linux) and their difficulties to have succes on the 'market', espacially in the embeded-devices sector.
the author describes based on the company lindeo, which supplies an 'embeded linux operating system', its decline or the inpossibility of this kind of buisness model. as conclusion the author states that one disadvantage of linux is that its based on gpl ;) and only selling linux is not enough (to survive as company).
