If people can play
SimCity, why shouldn?t they be able to govern their real city? Why
shouldn?t they like it?
If people can play
FlightSimulator, why shouldn't they be able to fly a real Boeing 767? Why
shouldn't they like it?
Well, perhaps because if they crash, REAL people will die?
CS' question is soo typical of the predator attitude: It doesn't really
matter whether you are ABLE to do your work, it doesn't really matter
whether you live up to your RESPONSIBILITY -- naah, you simply DO
what your power (whether legitimate, deserved, just,... or not) and
opportunity/-ism LETS you do. Might is right!
This is exactly how society gets messed up and wars, crises, accidents,...
--and Empires!-- come about. Loose cannons, who think it's all just a game
(and everyone's just "fair game"), are at the steering wheel. Their
reckless opportunism got them there in the first place... Just play
the stock market game (or the Millionenbauern game) -- who cares whether
real people will go broke and commit suicide...
I'd suggest we let THESE people (who cannot distinguish fact from fiction,
so much so that they write FICTION books to solve REAL societal problems)
play SimCity, FlightSimulator etc. on their PCs all day/night long -- and
finally let realistic, able and responsible people do the REAL work and
have the REAL power in society.
Cheers,
Christoph Reuss
