Sure. However, in free software there is another important motivation: 
the individual power to create something useful by immediate using the 
most developed forces of production. And this is called 
selbstentfaltung: bring something useful into existence as an 
expression of individual needs being the condition of the 
selbstentfaltung of others and vice versa.
