Re: [ox-en] Re: Money as a dominant social relation

Dear Paul,

The one thing that the Terra has in common with the Bancor is its role
as a global currency that would countercyclically stabilize the global
system.

The differences are:
- Terra is a currency fully backed by a basket of raw materials, while
the bancor is a specialized global fiat currency.
- Terra doesn't require a new global treaty, while the bancor would
require such a new institutional framework.
- Terra can be implemented privately, or publicly (such as a reformed
IMF), while the bancor by definition would be public only.
The technical details are available in the attached White Paper.

Hope this answers your question.

Bernard

How does the proposed Terra differ from Keynes proposal for the
Bancor at the Bretton Woods conference, partially implemented,
in the form of IMF SDR's?
