It is my private mental training gym. I got tired of cutting up straw
men, which is all the local leftie groups seemed to do. I got tired of
never being able to convince the racists that they were wrong. After
spending time as a local activist, I realized there might be a
connection between the two.
It is a long time principle of war that it is best to take the battle to
the enemy, keep them on the defensive. When you attack
misrespresentations of what they say, you lose any moral high ground,
and you don't make any headway anyway. Attacking Fort A when the enemy
is really over in Fort B is not only silly, but dangerous.
The only way to win is to know your enemy. That requires going straight
to the source. So I spent time gathering the creme de la creme of right
wing thought, those pieces of propaganda that truly inspire, move, and
motivate them. Not the propaganda they give to others, but the
propaganda they write for themselves.
In such a long term struggle, I need to know the odds for myself. I
can't trust another persons word, especially when I've caught that
person lying to me. I believe there are other intellectuals who have
the same viewpoint, and so I have made my researches available in a form
that they can quickly and easily reference.
I'm in this for the long term survival of the tribe. Paul Bowman
appears to be in it to have fun beating people up. What are you in it
for?
4. Also is your wife, the one we are to feel sorry for, the one who you
dont live with and the police seem to not want you to contact ... ie
the woman your kids live with? Or is she the landlady of that immoral
man your kids live with?
I don't live with my wife as a result of a long running feud with the
social workers, who took a disliking to my anti-government,
anti-capitalist politics at the birth of my daughter three years ago.
As a low income couple, my family lives in cramped quarters. The wife
and I needed a break from each other so I could finish a programming
contract to bring in some money. We hit on the novel (and disastrous)
idea of using our local womens shelter to host her for the night because
we couldn't afford a hotel room. But to get into a womens shelter, it
seems they need a social worker to approve it. Our stress level was
high enough that alarm bells didn't go off in our heads at those words;
social worker came into the house with some cops, fed them a bunch of
accusations that had been dismissed from court twice before, and applied
for a court order separating us until the matter can go to court. Now
the wife has taken in boarders to try to make ends meet.
5. Dont make us feel sorry for you with misrepresntations .... I am
only interested as to whether free open source software developers (or
some of them) should make political decisions....or simply pretend that
they are "apolitical".
What do misrepresentations have to do with my involvement in politics?
I used to participate in local anti-poverty and anarchist/socialist
groups. Now I just struggle to make a living.

No, what he tried to do was have me kicked out of the Free Software and
Open Source movement, specifically, out of the Debian project. That is
not a mere accusation; that is a hostile action. Such action is all the
more culpable when the person runs off half-cocked without being sure of
his facts. It is even worse when the person refuses to face the one he
accuses. It smacks of dishonesty and insincere motives.
7. the diary, well, have you heard of the "unstable digest" on nettime
... your diary sort of fits that desciption............
Never heard of an unstable digest on net-time. Perhaps you could fill
me in.
