why not asking the community a simple yes-no question: "should there be

You assume there is such a thing as "the community" around Wikipedia to
ask a simple yes-no question. Wikipedia has thousands of contributors,
ranging from those, like me, who have made a single edit, to those who
contribute many hours a week. There is no clear way draw a line, and any
attempt to do so will alienate a lot of people who are on the wrong side
of that line.
dont agree that such a line would alienate a lot of people. i think most
people would understand and accept a line where those who contribute hours
also get some kind of say in the steering of the community.
I for one am glad that wikipedia does not have ads.
i, for one, would raher have ads on the site in excchange for a 300
million budget to work with and effectively promote free access to
knowledge or food for poor people.
300 poorest cities on this planet have enough food for x years.)
Dumping food is a really bad way of helping the poor.
accept your personal opinion. but in both cases, the decision has been
made without discussion. thats my main critisim. not where the money
should go.
