Funding Doubly Free Projects (was: Re: [ox-en] sell your free software "lifestyle" business for nine figures [u])

Hi lists!

6 months (196 days) ago Benj Mako Hill wrote:
I've documented a bit of this in an essay I wrote on financing
voluntary free software projects:

Since funding of Free Projects is a much discussed topic at the moment
I took the time to read Makos text carefully. It's great :-) . I'd
recommend everyone here advocating funding of Free Projects to read it
carefully and to keep it in mind. The main message to me is: Never
ever fund the volunteers working on the project's core goals unless
you want to turn the project in a non-Free one.

Because Mako is deeply involved in Free Software I'm convinced he
absolutely knows what he's talking about. Because of this I created a
page

	http://en.wiki.oekonux.org/Oekonux/Research/FundingVolunteers

containing an outline for quick readers. On the talk page I also added
some comments.

Also I'm a bit proud that so far Oekonux - being itself a Doubly Free
Project - used the funding in exactly the ways which in Mako's essay
are labeled being low risk: For conferences and technical
infrastructure :-) .
