That reminds me very much of these idealist leftist currents who
(once?) believed that they just need to explain socialism to people
long enough and then they will follow. I think that is really an
idealist approach (in the philosophical sense).

I prefer the materialist approach (in the philosophical sense) because
it is much more plausible to me. What people want is based on their
conditions and if they benefit from peer production more than from
capitalist production they will switch. There is really no need to
understand a lot.

If that would be the case then you would need to explain to people why
using Free Software or Wikipedia is something moral and good. Howeve,
that simply didn't happen. People use it because they benefit from it.
