The below is an excerpt from the Debian Weekly News of Feb. 11th 2003,
on Debian at the World Social Forum at Porto Alegre Brasil this past
month. There are two sites regarding people's software (specifically
Debian here), and plenty of interesting (if amateur) fotoz of the
love-in.

One thing I didn't like was seeing UNESCO and even IBM, Hewlett-Packard
-- even NASDAQ -- have their grubby little fingers in there too...

As well, people from Debian LUGs in Uruguay and Argentina? went to Porto
Alegre. I'm sure people came from other countries as well.

Debian at the World Social Forum. Debian was [5]represented at the
World Social Forum in Brazil by [6]Debian-RS, a local Debian users
group. They were asked to build the computer network for the youth
camp during the event. They were also invited to give more than 10
workshops, with technical, political and social focus.

I'm also new to the list, and since you are from Argentina:

Have the asambleas populares (popular assemblies) been involved in Free
Software in any way, or has any part of the Free Software Movement been
involved in the asambleas populares?
