I think it is highly unfair to say that people who believe in free
speech even for racists and nazis usually think that "hanging's too good
for anybody who calls themself a Communist [...]". First, of course
anybody who takes this seriously (and I'm quite convinced that both
Perens and RMS do, and probably most or all of the Debian crowd you've
tlaked to) will apply the same standard to communist speech as to racist
speech. Second, I believe that there is a large crowd of people who are
both sympathetic to Communism and who believe in absolute free speech.
