I would like you to consider the case of fair trade for example, when
it
works as it is supposed to work. The organizing entity tries to
eliminate
rent-extraction by middlemen, allowing it to pay a more dignified price
to
the producer, and asks for a little extra from conscious consumers.
This is a form of exchange which does not seek to maximalize 'the most
return'; similarly, let's take a look at what is commonly called social
entrepreneurship. The aim is to achieve a social goal, and the
corporate
form is used to achieve that goal. It is not necessary to strive for
maximum
return since the goal is social, and profit just a means.
So, we have exchange, but it works differently from classic capitalism.
So
let's keep exchange separated from markets, and markets from
capitalism.
I agree
we can identify several human advancements and economic inventions over
time,
each one based in the previous one, but not imposed by it. We dont need
the
new one to have the step before.
- work - production - creation | human being (or another working
creature)
-- exchange | surpluss (human societies
after hunters and gatherers)
--- markets | points of exchange of
several producers and consumers
---- money | common agreed exchange
good
----- interest | capital: recognition of
growth potencial of capital
------ capitalism | invention of rent of
capital
as other way of distribution of
earnings, end of
direct
coercion in work exchange, all exploitation
troughout capital
rent
--------- free informational goods
| end of copyright ,
economic potencial of information not as an economic good,
digital networks and
free info flows, p2p info creation,
subsidized creation -
rent of knowledge as attentional power and lidership,
explosive growth of
knowledge societies
------------- enviromental colapse of humankind, end of
civilization
each step acelerated economic growth and eliminate a lot scarcity, and
stablish a growth in energy consumption and info flows
