"Based on" means fundament or dominant mode. Of course there is not
only that.
This means you have to deal with plural forms. How does a
commons-based society deals with the need for reciprocity and
calculation in non-abundant, rival resources,
I think that reciprocity is in all societies, but it depends on the
type. And I also think that calculation is in all societies (as an
engineer I can prove that), it again depends on type and scope.
Reciprocity does not necessarily mean exchange, and calculation does
necessarily mean money.

If we assume that a commons-based society base on inclusive
reciprocity, I would guess, that a computer will be used for
calculation purposes, where "computer" in future is network based.
