Why do you feel that you "have to describe it as Open Source"?  In my
experience, this may get some recognition from more people, but few
understand what they mean by that.  I guess that's the problem with
all the different definitions of that term.

Usually, I want to communicate rapidly the idea that we would be using
some model other than proprietary software. Unfortunately, open source
as a phrase is more comprehensible than GPL, and for some reason I don't
like to use the word Free in this context. Curious.
